Each week during Mental Health Awareness Month the Mental Health Initiative will be sharing mental health management tips. This week’s tips come from Jill Patano, licensed clinical professional counselor and Mental Health Initiative co-chair, and discuss managing anxiety during social distancing:

  • Limit intake of news and negative social media. In addition, seek out local news or positive news stories.
  • Worry and concern about the future are normal right now, but if you having trouble disengaging from anxious thoughts or they are fairly constant, it might be a good idea to seek out help.
  • Think about what is in your control right now if you feel like there’s too much uncertainty. Examples might be your routine, exercise, diet; anything that is self-care related.
