Purim 2021 / 5781

Although we can’t join together for Purim the way we would like this year, we’re still excited to celebrate the holiday and our Temple Jeremiah Purim traditions with you! Check out this year’s Purim schedule and festivities below.

Purim Shpiel

Join us on Thursday, February 25 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. for this year’s Purim Shpiel, Mamma Mia Megillah: Pandemic Edition.

Mamma Mia Megillah: Pandemic Edition will use the music of ABBA to tell the fateful tale of Esther, Mordechai, Haman, and Achashverosh! Tune into the Purim Shpiel over Zoom for a spirited holiday story featuring all of your favorite ABBA hits, like “Mamma Mia,” “Dancing Queen,” and “Take a Chance On Me.”

Shushan Shuffle 2.0

On Sunday, February 28th from 9:00 -10:00 a.m., our day of Purim activities begins with the 18th Annual Shushan Shuffle 5K Run/Walk! Start Purim off with a great workout for a great cause. Run or walk with Rabbi Cohen and other Temple Jeremiah members. This year, you can join the shuffle in one of three ways:

  1. Participate in the regular 5K Shuffle run around the Northfield area.
  2.  Run, rollerblade, bike, or hop around our 5K race track in the parking lot. Fun for the whole family and do your laps any way you please!
  3. Complete a virtual Shuffle by taking a picture of yourself on a treadmill or in your neighborhood running or walking the 5K.

Regardless of how you run the Shushan Shuffle, be sure to come by the temple to pick up your finisher’s medal and swag bag. While doing so, don’t forget to take a picture with our racing Hamentashen.

Registration is a suggested $18 donation with proceeds benefiting SHALVA. Anyone making a contribution gets a swag bag filled with great goodies! For questions, contact Danny Glassman via email or give him a call at 847.441.5760 ext. 102.

Purim Carnival

Temple Jeremiah will be holding our Purim carnival this year on Sunday, February 28th from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The Purim Carnival will begin with a drive-by costume parade at Temple Jeremiah! From 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., drive through our parking lot to show off your costumes, play physically distanced games, make fun crafts, and pick up carnival prize bags. During this time we also invite you to participate in Tikkun Olam by dropping off donations for Feed the Hungry.

Afterward, at 12:00 p.m. join us on Zoom for an Out of This World digital Purim Carnival created and led by our amazing Temple Jeremiah teens! Family and friends from all over are invited to join us for tons of different breakout room games for all ages, fun, and more to celebrate Purim!
