In honor of JDAIM in February the Inclusion Committee brought in disability activist, comedian, and speaker Pamela Schuller!
From Friday, February 12th – Sunday, February 14th, we invite you to join us and Pamela for storytelling, humor, and heartfelt discussions about disability awareness and inclusion.
Come together during JDAIM (Jewish Disability Awareness & Inclusion Month) for a special Scott B. Crane Abilities Awareness Shabbat featuring Pamela Schuller. To join, simply tune into our Shabbat Service on Friday, February 12th at 6:30 P.M.
Join Temple Jeremiah for an evening of storytelling, laughter, and inspiration featuring the fabulous comedian, Pamela Schuller.
As a teen, Pamela Schuller had the worst diagnosed case of Tourette Syndrome in the country, a touch of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and a whole lot of pent-up anger. She spent years depressed, suicidal, and wishing her differences away. Over time, she started looking at her life differently and turned her obstacles and challenges into the very fuel that propels her.
Now an internationally known disability and mental health advocate and professional stand-up comedian, Pamela’s stories of growing up in a body she had no control over are engaging, powerful, a little bit heart-wrenching, and unapologetically funny.
Temple Jeremiah’s Inclusion Committee is proud to present this event with Pamela as part of JDAIM (Jewish Disability Awareness & Inclusion Month). Please join us on Zoom where Pamela Schuller will tell stories, share her comedy, and answer questions about her life, career, and disability and mental health advocacy.
To enhance your experience during Pamela Schuller’s show SERIOUSLY FUNNY why not try these “Inclusion Pairings” – desserts and drinks that you might not think would pair well together but work out fabulously!
Lemon Bars + Bubbly Beverage
Dark Chocolate + Red Wine or Cider
Caramel Corn + Warm Cider
Sharp Cheese + the following tasty mocktail:
Orange Pomegranate Mocktail
Ingredients:
Pomegranate Juice
Orange Juice (fresh is super delicious but any will work)
You can cut the peel of the orange for garnish
Sparkling water or beverage (unflavored soda water or seltzer works well, but you can also use a flavored drink like an orange La Croix)
Pomegranate seeds for garnish (optional)
Use your favorite glass
Instructions:
Combine the sparkling water, pomegranate juice, and orange juice. 1/3 ratios of all three work well but individual tastes differ.
Stir (don’t shake) and serve over ice, or chill in the fridge until ready to serve.
Optional- Garnish with pomegranate seeds and orange rind.
Enjoy the show and your mocktail!
