Cover and Greeting Section Divider Art by Menachem Fish.

Menachem Fish was introduced to the world of painting in 2016, as part of his rehabilitation following a prolonged hospitalization due to a complex mental illness. He primarily works with acrylic paints on wood and canvas. His involvement in the arts has been transformative and has become part of his self-developed healing process. He has used his personal experiences to help others struggling with mental illness and is a volunteer working with orphaned youth in Jerusalem. In Menachem’s words, (Art is) the language of emotion… a dialogue between the artist and the canvas. Each color conveys an emotion and a thought that is an expression of myself. Art allows me to take my experiences and connect the pieces…in my life. (M)y art is my life’s journey.”

Menachem is 47 years old. He and his wife of 22 years are the parents of five children, ages 8-21

Memorial Tribute Art by Shaul Nai Sabari.

Shaul Nai Sabari was diagnosed with PTSD after personally experiencing and witnessing several horrific experiences during his military service in the Israeli army. He began painting during a hospitalization and found that drawing and painting allowed him to express his internal pain and suffering in a way that he was unable to do through words. Art was the gateway to his healing. He primarily paints in a free form reflecting his emotional state, using his hands, not brushes. Each painting is a story. Shaul explains “Art is shalva (tranquility) in life. It is peacefulness. It is me. It is my escape from pain that is so strong I cannot breathe. Every painting is a story inside me. Each portrays my state of mind.”

Shaul is 47 years old and is a single father of three sons, ages 7, 10 and 13.
