Shabbat Bo – January 30, 2020 – 4 Sh’vat 5780
Anne Lidsky
Shabbat Shalom Message
from Dr. Anne Lidsky
Dear Friends,
As many of you know, Jerry and I lived in Israel for 3 years, from 1972 to 1975. It was the best and most difficult of times for me and for my family. I gave birth to a son in April 1973, who died at the age of 5 days due to challenging circumstances. We were devastated, and I could not be consoled.

February Covenant

Dive into our first revamped edition of The Covenant! You’ll read interesting and inspiring articles about our commitment to inclusion, including the history of inclusion at Temple Jeremiah, a Jeremiah member and leader in disability awareness, and how our inclusion programs are giving families opportunities they can’t get anywhere else. You’ll also read a beautiful (real-life) story about a client of Eat and Be Well, our medical food pantry, who gave as much to our volunteers as they gave to her. All this, plus so much more!

Beware – Scam Email
A phishing scam has occurred again with a scammer pretending to be Rabbi Cohen. The false email is asking for gift cards, money, or an immediate response.
These are not legitimate.
Our IT team is on top of the situation. While Temple Jeremiah may occasionally provide opportunities for donations, these will always direct you to our official website. Please do not respond to these spam emails. A legitimate email from Temple Jeremiah will always end in @templejeremiah.org.

What Is Working Well for You at Temple Jeremiah and How Can We Get Better?
We want to know. On February 11th we are rolling-out a Temple survey to help Leadership and Clergy understand what is most important to you so they can plan for tomorrow. We hope to hear from all adult temple members, 100% participation, because everyone’s opinion is important in our community. The survey should take 10 minutes and input will be anonymous. Please watch for a special upcoming email with details and then take the survey. If there are adults in your home who do not receive temple emails directly, please pass the link on to them. Our survey is hosted by Loyola University Chicago (thanks to a temple member who works there) and is administered by the Temple Jeremiah Survey Committee.

Feed the Hungry
Next drop off is Sunday, February 2, 2020, before 11:00 a.m.
While you spend time enjoying a delicious meal with your loved ones this week, consider spending an evening making lunches for the hungry. This quick, family-friendly activity can take place at home over the weekend and lunches can be dropped off at Temple Jeremiah before 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Each lunch should consist of the following: Two meat sandwiches (two slices per sandwich of round, vacuum packed bologna or turkey bologna preferred), small bag of chips, fruit, two cookies. Holiday weekends mean there are often less volunteers and lunches to be distributed, paired with more hungry individuals who could use them.

Every lunch helps! Contact
