Looking for a safe way to lend a hand during this pandemic? Temple Jeremiah is holding a packaged food drive to benefit A Just Harvest, a food pantry on the north side of the city.

Like most pantries, A Just Harvest is experiencing a dramatic increase in the need for food from families, seniors and individuals with disabilities. During this period of social distancing, A Just Harvest is meeting the needs of the Chicagoland community by delivering individual food packages. Temple Jeremiah will be collecting food items to be used in those individual packages.

A Just Harvest is seeking: canned pasta meals like ravioli and spaghetti, canned chili, canned vegetables, ramen noodles, instant rice, beans, mac & cheese, pasta sauce, canned fruit, and instant oatmeal. Also, as everyone could use a little ray of sunshine during this hard time, consider including a card or picture drawn by your children in your donation bags.

Food items can be delivered to Temple Jeremiah Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Simply leave bags of items by the front door and the maintenance staff will bring them into the building.

All food donations must be delivered to Temple Jeremiah by Sunday, May 17th at 10:00 a.m., after which volunteers will drive the donated food over to A Just Harvest. Once there, A Just Harvest staff members will unload the food from your car–no physical contact will be required!
