More than 70 million people worldwide have left home to escape conflict and persecution. This number of displaced people surpasses all previous records, including those from the aftermath of WWI. At the moment, refugees—meaning those forced to flee their country for fear of persecution, war, or violence—account for about 25.9 million of those currently displaced.

The scope of this crisis is a global challenge. Currently, the ceiling for the number of refugees who will be resettled in the U.S. in 2020 is at 18,000 people, down from its former average of 95,000. Our government is currently deciding the number of refugees the U.S. will admit next year.

Please contact the president to voice your opinion on the resettlement of refugees in the US. You can also contact Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Tammy Duckworth, and your local congressperson about this issue.
