We have a chance to pass the Pretrial Fairness Act during the IL legislature’s upcoming lame-duck session beginning THIS Friday, January 8th!

Every year, more than 250,000 people are held incarcerated PRE-trial in Illinois, and the vast majority of them are kept in jail—while presumed innocent—simply because they can’t afford to pay for their freedom. The Pretrial Fairness Act would end money bond and reform the pretrial justice system in our state.

Our legislators will meet one final time—from January 8-12—before the current session ends. We invite you to contact your state legislators to let them know how you would like them to vote on the Pretrial Fairness Act.

We also invite you to learn more about the Pretrial Fairness Act by attending Exploring the Pretrial Fairness Act a form featuring Pretrial Fairness Act experts on Sunday, January 17th from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
