Join Temple Jeremiah on Saturday, August 15th at 6:00 p.m. for Tacos and Tunes, a physically distant evening of delicious tacos, music, and connection!

The evening will begin with a Havdallah service, followed by a concert from Larry Byrd and the Byrd Brothers. The Byrd Brothers, a staple of Camp Chi Family Camp last nights, will perform covers of everything from the Beatles to the Bodeans, John Prine to John Mayer, classic rock to modern country. It’s all about the songs, and sing-alongs of the cover tunes (requests welcome!) — we know you will leave wanting more!

Register now for early bird pricing: $20 per adult, $10 per child (ages 3-12), free for children under 2. Price includes tacos, dessert, water, music entertainment, and a good time! The deadline for preregistration is Monday, August, 10th at 5:00 p.m. Price at the door will be $25 for adults, $15 per child.

BYOB and BYOChairs. Also, don’t forget your mask!

Please contact Dina Bauwens with any questions or if you are available to help out with the event. We can’t wait to enjoy some tacos and rock out with you!

TACOS AND TUNES FAQS

We are so excited you are interested in joining us for Tacos & Tunes this Saturday! Here are some more details and Frequently Asked Questions. If you still have a question please call Dina at 847.441.5760 ext. 105 or email dina@templejeremiah.org.

Where is this event taking place?
In the Temple Jeremiah North Parking Lot. We will have it set up so you drive into the South Parking Lot to park, then walk around the back of the temple, with your chairs, to check in, then set up in the North Lot. Our friendly police officer friends and temple staff will be present to help direct you!

Will I be going inside the temple building?
The event will take place entirely outside. We will have restrooms available inside if you need them, but otherwise no reason to go inside the building.

Where am I suppose to eat my tacos?
Think of the North Lot like the Ravinia lawn. Set up in your own physically distant bubble, with your chairs, blankets, trays, whatever else you want to bring.

So I need to bring my own chair?
Yes, please bring chairs or blankets for you and/or your family.

Can you explain the event timing?
Please arrive by 6:00 p.m. so you can check in, set up your chairs, and get your food before we begin Havdallah at about 6:10 p.m.. You are also welcome to get your food after Havdallah or during the music part of the event which will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event will end by 8:30 p.m. but don’t feel obligated to stay the whole time.

What is provided by the price of the event?
The event cost covers your dinner (a taco bar with chicken, beef, and vegetarian options and tons of sides and bites), dessert, water, and the entertainment.

How are you ensuring the taco bar is safe?
Dinner will not be an open buffet. The caterers will have all the food out on a table but they, wearing masks and gloves, will be the only ones touching it. You will take a plate and the caterers put on the food that you choose. We will be coordinating the line so only one person/family goes at a time and everyone stays at least six feet apart and wears their masks.

What about dessert?
Dessert will be individually pre-packaged and we will distribute it or have a masked volunteer help hand it out.

This is a BYOB event?
Yes. The temple will provide water, BYOB anything else.

It sounds like you’re being really careful about the food and following CDC guidelines, but I would still rather bring my own food, is that ok?
Sure, you’re welcome to bring your own food instead. Please still register as attending the event so we know to expect you.

Will I need to check in when I arrive?
Yes. After parking in the South Lot please walk around the back of the building to check in.

Do I have to wear a mask?
Yes. We are following CDC protocols which ask everyone to wear a mask. If you don’t have one, we will have plenty of masks on hand when you arrive.

Do I have to be a member of Temple Jeremiah to attend?
No, we invite everyone to come out for this fun evening! Just be sure to register so we know to expect you, or contact Dina.

I’m a hugger, can I hug you when I see you?
We have missed you so much as well. Unfortunately, we are asking everyone to maintain six feet of physical distance. Please wave and give distant high fives!

Who is performing?
L.A. Byrd and the Byrd Brothers, a staple of Camp Chi Family Camp. The music will cover everything from the Beatles to the Bodeans, John Prine to John Mayer, classic rock to modern country. It’s all about the songs, and sing-alongs of the cover tunes, requests welcome!
