Temple Jeremiah

Feed the Hungry

feedthehomelessFeed the Hungry, where we pack hundreds of bag lunches to donate to those in need, takes place the first Sunday of each month year round. It is an incredible opportunity to come full circle by making lunches to donate and then actually meeting and interacting with the people who will be eating the food. It’s a memorable experience for everyone involved. The program feeds over 1,000 every year, thanks to the approximately 3,000 lunches made or brought to temple by volunteers like you.

What can you do to help?

  1. Make lunches at home (a great activity for your kids, friends, and neighbors, too!) and drop them off at Temple Jeremiah on the first Sunday of the month no later than 11:15 a.m. No need to sign up for this option, just bring in the lunches! Participating families are encouraged to bring a minimum of five sack lunches to the temple. Each lunch should consist of the following:
    – Two meat sandwiches (two slices per sandwich of round, vacuum packed bologna or turkey bologna preferred)
    – Small bag of chips
    – Fruit (such as an apple)
    – Two cookies
  2. Make lunches at Temple Jeremiah in our kitchen and then drive the lunches to shelters in Chicago to deliver them to those who will be enjoying the lunches. Sign up on our Sign-Up Genius here to make lunches at the temple and deliver them downtown.
