Youth Department

The primary goal of our Youth Department is to develop strong, vibrant, Jewishly literate adults. We work to build positive relationships with Judaism, help young people energize diverse aspects of the synagogue and empower them to develop into responsible and committed Jewish adults.

The Youth Department offers a variety of programming for preschool through high school age children. Programming ranges from social action to religious service, education to socialization with other Jewish young people. We strive to create a welcoming atmosphere which provides ongoing opportunities for social, emotional and Jewish growth.

How can you get involved with the Youth Department at Temple Jeremiah? Check out our programs below! Contact Rabbi Emily Segal or call her at 847-441-5760 to learn more and become involved as a participant, volunteer or chaperone.

General Programs:

Stay tuned for our 2010/11 Calendar of Events!

•Youth Lounge Days - Our Youth Lounge Days give young people the opportunity to take a break from homework and chores while enjoying board games and fun company. Lunch is served.

•Nosh ‘n Mingle - Come early for Hebrew School on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Youth Lounge will be open at 4:00 pm for hanging out, schmoozing with Rabbi Segal, a quick nosh and a chance to relax before class.

•Taste of Tikkun - Taste of Tikkun is an exciting program for all youth (K – 12th grades) to work on projects that will help people in our community. We meet every Sunday between Religious School sessions. Come hang out with new friends, and repair the world at the same time.

Youth Leadership Corps - This group works with Temple Jeremiah's Youth Committee to spread the word about Youth programs, brainstorm new ideas and ensure our Youth programs meet the needs of our young people.

The lounge was redecorated recently. Stop by and check us out!

We Need Your Help!

  • Please be sure to RSVP for all our programs to be sure that the locations, times and supplies are confirmed. Sometimes program locations and times change.  Sometimes we need to purchase supplies. Sometimes we have postponed programs due to unforeseen date conflicts. There are few things worse than being the one child who shows up at the wrong time or place.
  • We are thrilled to be running a much LARGER program this year, but the economic crunch has drastically reduced our budget and staff. We need help with: rides, chaperoning, purchasing/obtaining food and supplies. If you would be willing to help in any way, please contact Rabbi Segal. Also, if you can provide any of the items below for our youth lounge and programs, we would really appreciate your help.  (Please speak with Rabbi Segal to coordinate drop-off.)
