Upcoming Events
Top Chef: Jeremiah
Selected Sundays • 2:00 - 5:00 pm
Top Chef: Jeremiah comes to town for our high school students.
We’ll meet in the Jeremiah kitchen at 1:00 pm on selected
Sundays to hone our culinary skills, meet local chefs (we
may have a Top Chef drop in!) and get the year off to
a great start.
Other Events
JeTY participates in an annual Youth Group Shabbat Service.
Additionally, every year our Youth Groups participate in the
temple's Purim Carnival.
Social Action
InterAct
This unique program for post-Confirmation students - high
school to college - includes a social justice project and
hands-on social action, allowing
participants
to develop
leadership skills, Jewish learning and connections with other
young people.
L'Taken Social
Justice Seminar
Washington, D.C.
Each year, JeTY makes a year-long commitment to a social
action project. One of the highlights is a trip
to Washington,
D.C. Working with the Religious Action Center for Reform
Judaism, JeTY students study what Judaism has to say about
current political, cultural and social issues before Congress
and
then lobby our senators and representatives. We connect with
other young Jews, explore the nation's capital and prepare
position statements. Click above
to learn more about
the 2006 and 2007 trips taken by Rabbi C. Michelle Greenberg,
former Rabbi at Temple Jeremiah, and some teenage participants.
About JeTY
For kids in grades 9 through 12, JeTY, previously called
Senior Youth Group, is the place to be. With several programs
a month, this is a very active youth group. Whether it's going
to a baseball game or seeing a musical, this group is on the
go! In addition to great social activities, JeTY is a place
for learning, worshipping, and making a difference. We look
forward every school year to a full calendar of fun, study
and social action.
An affiliate of the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), the Reform Movement’s North American Youth Group, JeTY offers a variety of experiences. Events have included making toys and games for needy children, making blankets for children at La Rabida Hospital and working at a food pantry. Our social events include taking trips to comedy shows, speed boating at Navy Pier and broomball.
JeTY Board
JeTY has its own board, giving its members an opportunity
to plan events and learn leadership skills. To get involved, contact the Youth Department.
