School & Youth Department Social Action
Ongoing Programs
Taste of Tikkun
Sundays
10:45 - 11: 15 am
K – 12th
graders work on projects that help people in our community.
We meet Sundays between
Religious School sessions. Hang out with new friends
and repair the world at the same time.
Past projects have included making
150 "sustenance kits," which included a snack,
hand warmers, chapstick and other items, for people turned
away from overcrowded homeless shelters and assembling
over 300 craft kits for patients at Children's Memorial
Hospital.
InterAct
Led by Rabbi Emily Segal, this program helps post-Confirmation
students - high school through college - develop their
leadership skills through social action and peer cooperation.
Participants select an issue such as the environment
or health reform. They fundraise,
teach, meet with legislators and work with high schools and
the
synagogue to develop awareness of the topic and enact
solutions.
See an article on Interact written
by former Temple Jeremiah Rabbi Michelle Greenberg. To sign
up or for more information, contact Rabbi
Emily Segal.
